A Little About Me (and My Beautifully Chaotic Crew)

Hi again, and welcome back to Brewing Spanish! Since we’re on this journey together, I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself—not just as a Spanish teacher and language enthusiast, but as a person, a mom, and someone constantly juggling the joys and challenges of bilingual life.

I’m Samantha, a lifelong lover of language, culture, and coffee. By day, I’m a Spanish teacher and curriculum designer, and by… well, every moment in between, I’m a mom to three wonderfully wild baskets of crazy. Our home is a mix of languages, laughter, and a fair share of chaos—think spilled drinks, impromptu dance parties, and kids who switch between Spanish and English mid-sentence without a second thought.

Bilingual Life: Beautiful, Messy, and Full of Surprises

Raising kids in two languages is an adventure. Some days, it’s absolutely magical—like when my little one surprises me by using a new Spanish phrase or when I overhear my kids playing en español without even thinking about it. Other days, it’s a hilarious struggle—like when my seven year old insisted that “¡Tú eres un booty!” was a perfectly acceptable sentence.

But through all the mix-ups, code-switching, and moments of pure linguistic brilliance, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Language isn’t just about words—it’s about connection, identity, and opening doors to new perspectives.

Along with posts about teaching Spanish and cultural explorations, I’ll also be sharing little glimpses into our bilingual home—the funny moments, the challenges, and the things I’m learning along the way, especially in this politically turbulent atmosphere. Whether you’re a fellow teacher, a bilingual (or monolingual…or multilingual) parent, or just someone who loves languages, I hope this space feels like a place where we can share, learn, and grow together.
